teaser: first sighting of the wee ginger baby Coulson

So I'm writing fic in which Phil and Clint have a baby. (no mpreg was involved in the making of this. for real.) There are some details on the twitter, and some in my little green notebook, but I'm starting on writing it and just had to share the first bit. I don't have a title yet; I figure that can come later.

"She's so tiny." Clint's breath fogs up the nursery window as he whispers, nose pressed to the glass, looking down at the baby girl.

 

"Babies usually are, Barton."

 

Phil doesn't move from where he stands, five or so feet behind his archer. They're "officially" together now, once they sign all of the paperwork, so that they can have this family, but not many people outside of the rest of the Avengers, Director Fury and a handful of senior agents are aware yet. He's not quite sure how to break the news to everyone, but he did swiftly veto Clint's idea to bring her into work and declare his undying devotion to them both throughout the halls.

 

"What's her name, oh proud father?" Clint is mocking him. Phil knows he's a little annoyed that he has to fill out so much more paperwork than Phil because he's not actually related to the baby—their baby—and Phil is.

 

"I thought I'd let you decide." He decides to not bring up the pouting; this is supposed to be a happy occasion.

 

Clint turns, looks at him. "Really?" Phil nods once. "Natasha," he answers without a moment of hesitation.

Oh, I love this. I love that Clint doesn't even pause with the naming, he had it ready to go if he got the chance. I love that they have to go through ALL THE PAPERWORK and I'm sure Clint makes Phil do most of it but pouts anyway! LOL!

Can't wait to read more.
